Privacy Policy

HireGeeks.com is dedicated to keeping your personal information safe. This policy details how we collect, store, and use your personal information.

This Policy

This privacy policy is subject to change at any time, with or without notice. If you believe that there is an error or omission in this privacy policy, you may contact HireGeeks.com at privacy@hiregeeks.com.

Furnished Information

We may collect information that you supply to us through the user or mailing list signup process. For user signups, this information typically includes your real name, email address, address, phone number, social security number, and one form of financial information. For mailing list signups, this includes your email address as well as any other information you choose to provide. This information is stored in a database and associated with your unique username. Your financial information is strongly encrypted before being stored in our database and can only be unlocked with your password. Your password is not stored in our database.

Submission of this information is entirely voluntary. However, if you decline to provide the information stated above, we may not be able to provide services to you. You may still browse many parts of our website without submitting this information.

Automatically Collected Information

Our web server automatically logs data that can theoretically be used to identify you, such as your IP address. We will only use this information internally for system administration purposes or to track and respond to abuses of our services, unless we are required by law to divulge this information to an authority.

Use and Disclosure

We use the information that you provide to us internally to provide you with better service. We may also be required to share your information with a payment processing service, such as PayPal, to allow you to make transactions on our site. With this exception, we do not disclose any of your information to third parties unless required under law. Even in these cases, we are not able to disclose your financial information unless you supply us with your password.

Cookies

While you are logged into our site, your username and password are stored as two cookies on your machine. We also store three cookies containing boolean values indicating which panes of the navigation bar on the left of our site you have open. If you disable cookies, you may be unable to access parts of our service.

Third Party Advertising

We use a third party advertising service (Google AdSense) on our site. Our advertiser may collect information that is not governed by this policy. Our advertiser may also set cookies on your machine. We have no control over the information that is collected from you or the cookies set by our advertisers.

Retention

If you decide to cancel your subscription to a mailing list, your information will be deleted instantly. However, if you close your HireGeeks account, the information will remain in our database for a short time, until we have ensured that your account balance is zero with no pending payments, disputes, or complaints. This information will not be released unless we are required to release it by law.

Collaboration on a Project

Any information you disclose to another user off of the site is outside of the scope of this privacy policy (which is why we encourage you to post a log of all off-site communication on-site). However, any contact information that you disclose to another user on the site following acceptance of that user's bid adheres to this privacy policy, with the exception that the information will be made available to the other user. All bids and comments made prior to acceptance of a bid on a project are publicly viewable, but those made after acceptance of a bid are private.

HireGeeks Personnel

Viewing of your information by HireGeeks personnel, including those designated as HireGeeks mediators, with the intent of resolving a dispute or investigating when abuse is suspected constitutes “internal use” and is valid under this agreement.

Requests for Self-Disclosure

We will honor any user's request to disclose all information we have on file for him, so long as the user's identity can be verified and the user is not engaged in abusive behavior.
